Canyongate Ranch -
The Canyongate Ranch is located in the scenic Huerfano River Valley. This valley lies in south central Colorado and is bordered by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on the west and the Wet Mountains on the east. Consisting of 2,520 total acres, 1,200 acres are deeded and 1,320 acres are Bureau of Land Management lease. Most of the deeded acreage is relatively flat grassland with interspersed pinon, juniper and cedar. The BLM acreage is typically more mountainous terrain. The ranch has a year-round spring and several seasonal creeks. The ranch also provides direct access to two scenic canyons that offer first class scenery. There are no improvements on the ranch, but there are numerous fine build sites. Electricity runs through the west side of the ranch and telephone is available at the country road. The area has abundant wildlife and hunting can be exceptional for elk, deer, lions, bear and turkey. Walsenburg, the nearest large town, is about 25 minutes distant. This part of Colorado remains very rural and relatively undiscovered.
